Summer Bonding

April 10th, 2012 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Friendship, Kindred Spirits

Only on a summer day
Can I dream the dream of yesterday
A memory that warms my heart
of friendship that shall never part

A bond of two to last forever
of days spent well and memories shared
Of loyalty and empathy
of laughter and many tears

We share our soul, we share our fears
we share time across the years.
And many a California summer day
We share sand time and giggle away.

~ April, 2, 2012 ~

For my Bellini Beans…. looking forward to summer BFFFFFF  Written about the healing powers of the sand and a special friendship with Jeannie Pascuzzi.

S is for…

April 15th, 2011 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Acceptance, Friendship

S is for…

I’m stuck on you

It’s not like love

I know were through

But still I’m stuck on you

I’m confused you see

At what you be

And where you are

Yes, you’re confusing me

Deeply mixed,

Covered in a callous surface

Your heart is fixed

What is the purpose?

I’m stuck on you

I’m confused you see

It’s deeply mixed

What’s perplexing me!

The silent motions of your mind

The subtle notions that I’m not defined

The secret message that I feel

The lasting impression, that I’m not real

And so I’m stuck on you

Yes, you’re confusing me

The friendships through

So why can’t I let it be?

September 17th, 1997

Written while fighting with my ego over the fact that not everyone is going to want to be my friend and in fact some people are just game players.  Just wish I didn’t need to spend so much time “over analyzing” some things in life!

The Trusting Gardener

April 15th, 2011 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Acceptance, Friendship

The Trusting Gardener

I walked into my garden

And there I found a seed

It called to me I thought

It begged to be planted

I picked my favorite pot

I found the richest soil

I nurtured it everyday

I watched it sprout

I tended to the weeds

I protected it from harm and harsh weather

As it grew, it danced in the sunlight

And warmed my heart with its beauty

I was glad to dedicate so much effort to its maintenance and growth

For I knew the rewards would be great

I didn’t mind when its seeds spread to the other pots and planters

I didn’t notice it start to climb the trees

I didn’t hear it convince the birds to stop singing

Or the butterflies to go away

Months later on my daily visit to my garden

I noticed the pots and planters were brown and barren

The ground was hard and cold

And every way I turned my head

I saw the green turn goldish red on the leaves I’d lovingly sown

And then the rash came over me

The blotches on my soul

The plant I had tended so carefully…

Was Poison Oak you know!

Written to describe what I felt like after working so hard for months to help someone (A. G. poem) only to find out they were literally using me to play a game with others.

A.G.

A.G.

I look into your heart, and see the pain and anguish there

I want to pull it apart, to save you from your self despair

But the pieces that I find, would never fit for me

You must rebuild yourself, to set your anguish free!

If you want a friend, to hold some pieces while you do

You can count on me, to safely guard those pieces through

I’ll give them food and water, I’ll love them like my own

And gladly give them back to you, when you’ve rebuilt their home!

I’ll even give you nails and wood, and the blueprints given to me

The ones I received from God above, to guide and set me free

And the building tool that you will need, I’ll give that to you too

A simple prayer that you need help and God will see you through!

July 10th, 1997

Written in an effort to share my experience, strength and hope with someone who had asked for help.  Later I found out she made the whole thing up and wasn’t struggling with booze to gain attention from our group of friends.  I was so upset I wrote a poem about that betrayal as well.  So my feelings of helping someone expressed in this poem still stand and thus I include it here.

Friends like You

April 15th, 2011 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Friendship

Friends like You

A positive word, a kind Hello

A happy thought while on the go

A constant smile, a silly notion

The energy of your constant motion

The friendship that you choose to share

Will no doubt follow you everywhere

The sincere warmth that you exude

Puts people in a better mood

And so with fondness to you I say

“Friends like you, make my day!”

September, 1997

Inspired by Joseph Darren Wood, an old IRC buddy in the UK back in the day.  He always put a smile on my face and a song in my heart and he created my first logo.  It is the cutest little purple frog and I used it on my first website in 1997.  I hope wherever he is today he is doing excellent and still pursues his art.

My first business logo. Still in use today no stealing. Thanks

Kindret

April 15th, 2011 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Friendship, Healing, Kindred Spirits, The Netherlands

Kindret

Another time, another place,
A different land, a different space,
Yet, a special love meant to be shared,
A touching moment of how we cared.
More then a friendship deep in my heart.
Bound kindret spirits, we’ll never part.

October 1997

Written for Maarten, a Dutch kindret.  Proving land and language are no barriers.
He always wrote Kindred with a “t” so I kept that in this poem.
He was instrumental
in helping me understand (via the internet)
that marriage shouldn’t hurt and
I deserved a happy and healthy love.
He was so right.

Julia Ann Ferguson

NB: 2 years later I had moved to the Netherlands and Maarten and I got married.  How cool is that!
And nope he never hits me or screams at me or throws and breaks my things.  Never!

Best Friends

April 15th, 2011 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Friendship, Healing, Spirituality (Not Religion)

“What will i do when i get older?” said the little girl.

“Take one day at a time”, said the older one.

But i’m scared!

Have faith in your dreams.

Will i be alone?

Only in your heart.

Will you hold my hand?

Every time I pray.

Free to be me!

April 14th, 2011 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Childhood Poems, Depression, Friendship

Free to be me!

Why me?

Why can’t I be free?

Free from what makes me sad!

Why can’t I be free?

Free to be next to what makes me happy!

And when I go to find my happiness, I go down that very road.

And when I come to the bend, I turn the corner and find my friends.

P.S. my sadness ends!

October 12, 1978  Age 14

Another poem about childhood struggles.   I was feeling very lonely at this point in my life.

Julia’s Garden

April 14th, 2011 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Friendship, Nature, Spirituality (Not Religion)

Behold a garden for your journey ~ Stop and pick a flower or two
Be gentle upon our Nature’s Bounty ~ Enjoy the kiss of morning dew

Respect the animals that roam free ~ Bring your child out to play
Color a note from the rainbow ~ Part gladly that you came this way

July 1997

Written for the opening of my very first website – Julia’s Garden.   It so embodied my spirit at that time.  Most of that website still represents who I am internally, a little wiser, a little harder but still holding on to hope and joy.

Soul mates of Another Kind

April 13th, 2011 by admin | No Comments | Filed in Friendship, Kindred Spirits, Love Poems, Spirituality (Not Religion)

Soul mates of Another Kind

Soul mates of another kind
They say my thoughts
And read my mind
They know my fears
They share them too
They type my sentences before I do
Their smile’s my reflection
Their voice my own
We have separate bodies
But one internal home

Always amazed each time I find one
Always thrilled to meet another
These soul mates of another kind
Are lifelong friends not fleeting lovers
I seem to know them “as if forever”
Time doesn’t notice when we met
That bond of “something special’s flowing”
Both face to face or across the “Net”
It doesn’t matter what’s their gender
What’s their age or who they know
My soul mates of another kind
Exist within me and never go

December 21, 1997

My kindred spirits are soul mates with me throughout my life. I don’t believe a soul mate is one designated person to be your lover. My soul enjoys sharing with all the special ones in my life.
