Hi Rachel,

Like all communities, I think connections need to be nurtured, revisited and removed if they have become stale or no longer desired. I use FB as an addition to my current way of staying "fresh" with friends... telephone, email, FB chat. My old laptop doesn't have a built in camera so I don't use the video chat currently. I think it is a clever idea. As to superficiality - you don't have to look to FB to find that. Some people don't go deep in person or online. Removing negative types in all walks of life are a good thing! Thanks for your response and the tip on the app. I plan to update my computer soon and will look into it.

A lot of valuable advice here. I've recently taken steps towards de-friending FB friends who I feel to be negative presences in my (online) life. What's your opinion on the superficiality of Facebook? Have you ever tried interacting with people on Facebook through video chat? The Rounds app for example (http://www.rnds.me/bc ). It's helped me rebuild some old friendships that I'd let slide into the I-like-your-status-update-once-in-a-while-and-nothing-more phase.

If we were all the same that would be SO boring! It's like one of the quotes you use..... If it detracts from you life instead of adding to it, remove it! Don't just bash & complain for the sake of complaining. Either work on accepting what is different NOT wrong or leave and go somewhere where you're happy. I enjoyed your blog entry:) I don't believe ANY culture is superior to another. We're all human and have room for improvement and growth.

Thanks Liz! (I want to call you Amy - have to explain that next time i see you!) I love your ability to see others in their own situation and still find value in what they have to offer. So many would or do write off those they can't relate to and miss out on so much knowledge and insight. Hope dinner was yum! Praying he didn't feed you and the beasts possum! ;]

AMEN! News is what the editor picks but other stories of equal importance may have been left out because of prioities and time constraints which can lead to the misinterpretation of the "truth". Truth and reality is what you make it. Ask any psych patient (I find those most interesting with whom to discuss things because they don't live in my reality and therefore offer another perspective). Is their perspective wrong? They don't think so... Good post Julia. Robin says that dinner is ready... Gotta go...

My advice? Drink tons of water before massage or therapy. Take my time on the table when done. If loopy, write in my journal in my car till I feel okay. Stop at a store and walk around for a bit. Drink tons more water after. Breath. Go to the bathroom.

I once wrote in my journal and on myspace about driving under the influence of fibro flare!

Thanks for the professional tips Jen! It's important to remember that you don't have to have a chronic illness to be affected by physical therapy enough to ensure safe travel home! You nailed some great points.

Trust me, having worked in a day spa for almost ten years, there have been many clients that I've worried about sending out on the road. Deep tissue massag can unlock toxins in your muscles which then course through the blood stream and lymphatic system, often times resulting in dizziness and even nausea. Combine that with a soak in the whirlpool spa and a hit-all-your-pressure points facial and one is left pretty out of sorts! We always stress lots of water to flush the system and taking it very easy. Some clients even choose to sit and sip a cool beverage before driving. Personally, I tend to have my treatment few and far between, usually when my back is a mess! Because I can count on feeling lethargic and sometimes woozsy I like to arrange for transportation or schedule with an MT that does in-home treatments.
